Environmental water sampling and analysis
- Service water – Primarily used for a variety of non-consumptive applications like: cooling towers, fire protection, landscaping, cleaning. While service water does not need to meet potable water standards, it should still be of sufficient quality to ensure it does not damage equipment or interfere with processes. The water should be free from contaminants that can cause corrosion, scaling, or clogging.
- Process water – Refers to water that is used in various industrial processes, operations, or manufacturing activities, but is not intended for direct human consumption.
- Groundwater – Samples taken from wells, boreholes, or springs that tap into underground water sources.
- Wastewater – Samples collected from sewage systems, treatment plants, or industrial discharge points.
- Stormwater – Samples collected from stormwater runoff, typically after rainfall events.
- Drinking Water – Samples taken from public or private water supplies to ensure water safety and quality for human consumption.
